As per reports, the All-Party Joint Committee comprising Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders announced a five-day continuous programme of protests in Bagerhat District starting Sunday (07 September).
The details of the protest programme are as follows:
• Protest marches and press conferences at key locations in Bagerhat on Sunday (07 September).
• A strike (hartal) and transport blockade are scheduled in Bagerhat on Monday (08 September).
• A sit-in demonstration will be held in front of the Election Commission office and the Deputy Commissioner’s office, accompanied by protest marches, on Tuesday (09 September).
• Another strike (hartal) is planned for Wednesday and Thursday (10-11 September).
• A legal committee, led by Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Jamaat-e-Islami district leaders, has been constituted to challenge the Election Commission’s gazette notification.
