Fire incident reported in Rotterdam on Monday (29 January) night

As per reports, a major fire broke out in an apartment complex and spread to several adjacent buildings on the Schammenkamp in Rotterdam around 2030 hours (local time) on Monday (29 January).

• The fire was caused by an explosion in a car under the residential complex. The force of the explosion blew the car out of the garage and onto the street.
• Dozens of windows were blown out of buildings, while around 20 homes were damaged due to the fire.
• At least one person was injured and taken to hospital in unknown condition.
• As per the emergency service, the fire had spread to the roof area of the building making it difficult for the fire crews to extinguish it. The fire service announced that the fire would be completely extinguished by Tuesday (30 January) early morning.
