As per reports, Kuwait’s deputy prime minister stated that a fire incident at a residential building in the city of Mangaf, Kuwait, resulted in the loss of at least 41 lives on Wednesday (12 June).
• Reportedly, flames have engulfed the lower section of the building, while thick black smoke is reported to be billowing from the upper floors.
• Officials have stated that an additional 15 individuals sustained injuries and were subsequently transported to the hospital. It is reported that a significant portion of the casualties are foreign workers residing in the building.
• Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yusuf al-Sabah attributed the tragedy to violations of building standards and accused property owners of prioritizing greed.
• Unverified reports have surfaced in Indian media suggesting that some of the deceased individuals are from the Indian subcontinent. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, in a statement on X, mentioned that embassy officials had visited the hospitalized individuals.
