According to reports, a fire broke out at several three-storey shophouses in Kampung Seraya, Batuampar District, Batam, on Thursday (11 December) at around 0600 hours (local time), when thick smoke was first observed rising from the affected units.
Multiple fire trucks were deployed to the location, and firefighting teams worked to contain the flames, followed by suppression and cooling operations.
• Residents and workers immediately began evacuating valuables while alerting emergency services. The shophouses included a unit selling daily necessities, and videos recorded by bystanders showed dense smoke spreading across the area near RS Harapan Bunda, a busy traffic corridor in Batuampar.
• The Batuampar Police Sector confirmed the incident and reported that no casualties have been recorded. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
