Fire accident causes power outages in north Chennai as of Thursday (12 September) night

As per reports, a fire accident has been reported at 400 kV Manali substation in north Chennai as of 2200 hours local time on Thursday (12 September), which has caused disrupted power supply to many parts of the city.

• Reports of power supply disruption for more than one hour were recorded in areas such as Jamalia, Madhavaram, Kodungaiyur, Kolathur, Tondiarpet, Purasawalkam, Otteri, Egmore, Adyar, Washermenpet, Kodambakkam, Vadapalani, Manali, Perambur, T.Nagar, Besant Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur and Mylapore.
• Since the Manali 400 kV substation is connected to the North Chennai Thermal Power station, several substations connected to it including Tondiarpet, Basin Bridge and Pulianthope faced tripping.
• The power restoration is expected to be done through back feeding one substation after another within the next two hours.
