As per reports, farmers are likely to continue the protests citing that their demands have not been met after a meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday (13 February). The farmers have been protesting over high electricity costs and refund of the Special Consumption Tax on agricultural fuel.
Other demands include duty-free agricultural diesel, subsidies on supplies and animal feed, renegotiation of the EU’s new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), full compensation for lost income, and cessation of the labeling of non-Greek produce as Greek. There have also been demands for compensation crops and livestock destroyed in floods in September 2023.
