Explosives recovered in Birbhum district, West Bengal on Wednesday (18 March); security heightened

As per reports, a large quantity of explosives was recovered in Kadasir village under the Nalhati police station limits in Birbhum district on Wednesday (18 March). The recovery was made after local residents intercepted a tractor suspected of transporting explosives and informed the police.

• Police subsequently seized the vehicle and recovered approximately 10,000 gelatin sticks and 360 detonators. No arrests have been reported at the time of writing, and an investigation is under way to determine the origin and intended use of the materials.
• Following the incident, security presence has been increased, with central forces intensifying patrolling across parts of West Bengal. Authorities have indicated that precautionary measures are being undertaken in view of the upcoming state elections.
