As per reports, an encounter between terrorists and a joint patrolling party of Indian security forces was reported at Dudu area of Basantgarh in Udhampur, at around 1530 hours on Monday (19 August). An officer of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was killed in the encounter.

The joint patrolling party included security forces from the CRPF and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
