As per reports, EU’s Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Policy Oliver Varhelyi informed Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Friday (02 February) of the approval at the EU Summit of additional financial allocations to neighboring countries of the EU, including Egypt.
• The decision was taken within the framework of the mid-term review of the European budget for the period (2021-2027), which allocated additional financial and economic support to Egypt.
• Both the officials also discussed means of deepening cooperation between the two sides as well as expanding relations in various political, economic, commercial, cultural and scientific fields within the framework of the new comprehensive strategic partnership relationship.
• A discussion was also held on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, the importance of enhancing the volume of humanitarian aid to Gaza as well as removing any obstacles in providing adequate and sustainable aid to the people of Gaza.
