As per reports, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) announced a new Ebola outbreak in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo on Friday (15 May).
• Health authorities have reported approximately 246 suspected cases and 65 deaths, with four fatalities confirmed through laboratory testing.
• Cases have been identified in Ituri province, particularly in the Mongwalu and Rwampara health zones.
• Additional suspected cases have been identified in Bunia, a key urban centre in the province located near the Uganda border.
• Officials stated that case numbers may increase as surveillance continues.
