As per reports, the Amritsar district administration has imposed a complete ban on flying drone cameras in rural areas surrounding Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Raja Sansi, citing aviation security concerns as of Tuesday (10 March).
• Authorities noted that the airport experiences frequent international and domestic flight movements throughout the day and night, while nearby areas host numerous hotels and marriage palaces where drones are often used during social functions for aerial photography.
• Officials expressed concern that such drone activity could potentially be misused by anti-social elements, posing risks to flight safety and airport security.
• To mitigate these risks and ensure safe aviation operations, the Additional District Magistrate Rupinder Pal Singh issued the order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, prohibiting the operation of drones within rural jurisdictions surrounding the airport along Ajnala Road in Amritsar district.
