As per reports, the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) issued a 21-day strike notice for doctors in Meru County and Isiolo County, with industrial action scheduled to commence from midnight on 02 June if grievances related to pay, staffing, and working conditions remain unresolved.

• Doctors accused county authorities of failing to implement the 2017 to 2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), delaying promotions, failing to recruit additional medical personnel, and delaying salaries and statutory remittances.
• Reportedly, doctors in Meru County cited staffing shortages, delayed absorption of contracted doctors into permanent terms, denial of study leave, and unpaid salary arrears linked to the third remuneration review cycle.
• Doctors in Isiolo County also raised concerns regarding delayed salaries, unremitted pension and medical deductions, intimidation by senior officials, and severe staffing shortages at healthcare facilities, including Level 5 hospitals.
• KMPDU stated that the union remains open to dialogue with the relevant authorities, however, industrial action may proceed if the outstanding grievances are not addressed before 02 June.
