DMP issues traffic guidelines for Independence Day on Thursday (26 March)

According to reports, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued special traffic directives for the movement of vehicles on the occasion of the Great Independence and National Day on Thursday (26 March).

• A parade will be held at the National Parade Square from 1000 hours (local time) to 1230 hours, and a courtesy meeting with the President will take place at Bangabhaban from 1600 hours to 1730 hours. The President, Prime Minister, ministers, foreign diplomats, high-ranking officials, and leaders and representatives of various organizations will attend these events.
• Additionally, a concert marking Independence Day will be held at Manik Mia Avenue from 1800 hours to 2330 hours. In this context, DMP has urged citizens to follow special traffic management measures around the venues.
• Vehicle movement will be restricted—except for vehicles with special stickers for invited guests—on the following roads: From Agargaon Light Crossing on Begum Rokeya Sarani to Urojahaj Crossing; Bir Uttam Major General Azizur Rahman Road (Agargaon Link Road) near the Prime Minister’s Office; From Shishu Mela Crossing on Syed Mahbub Morshed Road to Agargaon Crossing; From July Smriti Jadughar Crossing (Old Ganabhaban) to Urojahaj Crossing.
• Diversions will be in place at: West end of Prime Minister’s Office Crossing; East and southeast ends of Agargaon Light Crossing; Shishu Mela Crossing to Syed Mahbub Morshed Road; July Smriti Jadughar Crossing; From Khejurbagan Crossing to Urojahaj Crossing.
• Vehicles from Jahangir Gate toward Agargaon/BICC will take a right turn at Bijoy Sarani and use Urojahaj Crossing–Lake Road–Mirpur Road.
• Vehicles from Mirpur-10 toward Mohakhali/Bijoy Sarani/Farmgate/Dhanmondi/New Market will turn right at Agargaon Light Crossing via Shishu Mela.
• Vehicles from Farmgate/Bijoy Sarani toward Mirpur will use Khejurbagan–Manik Mia Avenue–Mirpur Road.
• Vehicles from Dhanmondi toward Mirpur will use Mirpur Road–Technical intersection.
• Vehicles from Mirpur/Shyamoli/Shishu Mela toward Mohakhali will use Mirpur Road–Manik Mia Avenue–Farmgate–Bijoy Sarani.
• Only vehicles with special stickers will be allowed on, Abrar Fahad Avenue (Zero Point to Gulistan), DIT Road (Gulistan to Rajuk Crossing). Vehicle movement will remain suspended at several connecting points, including: Dainik Bangla Crossing to Rajuk Crossing; Fazle Rabbi Road (near Shaheed Matiur Rahman Park); Dilkusha Road entry points; Diversions (Bangabhaban Area).
• Diversions will also be in place at: Zero Point, Rajuk Crossing, ALICO Gap; Hanif Flyover outgoing lane; Joykali Temple Crossing; Motijheel City Centre and surrounding areas.
• Traffic insrructions: Vehicles (except invited guests) from Abdul Gani Road will be diverted via UBL Crossing toward Dainik Bangla–Shapla Chattar; Vehicles from Fulbaria–Golap Shah Mazar will use Zero Point–UBL–Nightingale–Rajmoni; Vehicles from Hanif Flyover will be routed via Zero Point toward UBL/Golap Shah/High Court; Vehicles from UBL toward Gulistan will use Fulbaria–Tantibazar route; Other rerouting instructions apply through Shapla Chattar, Dainik Bangla, and surrounding roads.
• Special instructions will apply from 1700 hours to 2300 hours: From Shyamoli/Mohammadpur, vehicles will use Lake Road–Urojahaj Crossing instead of Manik Mia Avenue; From Shahbagh/Sonargaon, vehicles will use Farmgate–Bijoy Sarani–Urojahaj Crossing–Lake Road; Elevated Expressway vehicles will turn right at Khejurbagan Crossing; Vehicles from Dhanmondi/New Market will use Ganabhaban Crossing–Lake Road; Vehicles toward Dhanmondi/New Market via Mirpur Road will proceed directly without U-turn at Manik Mia Avenue.
