As per reports, civil unrest was witnessed in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Friday (05 December) in the morning, a day after US President Donald Trump hosted Congolese and Rwandan leaders in Washington to sign new peace deals.
• Fighting occurred in North Kivu and South Kivu provinces with clashes between Congolese government forces and Rwandan-backed Armée révolutionnaire du Congo (AFC/M23) rebel groups.
• Forces loyal to the government reportedly conducted widespread attacks, while Rwandan forces carried out bombings.
• Numerous homes have reportedly been destroyed; casualties include women and children, though numbers remain unverified.
