As per reports, major disruptions were reported across São Paulo’s commuter rail network on Thursday (23 July), affecting Lines 11-Coral, 12-Sapphire and 13-Jade, resulting in widespread delays, service suspensions and severe overcrowding during the morning peak period.

• The disruptions occurred on the third consecutive day of operational issues following the transfer of the former Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) lines to concessionaire Trivia Trens.
• According to the operator, an incident causing a power outage between Brás and Engenheiro Goulart stations disrupted services. Additionally, a train fire at the maintenance yard near Bresser-Mooca Station was reported at approximately 0538 hours local time (0838 hours UTC), contributed to the disruption.
• As of approximately 0800 hours local time (1100 hours UTC), services on Lines 12-Sapphire, 13-Jade and the Airport Express remained suspended, while Line 11-Coral was operating with partial service between Estudantes and Corinthians-Itaquera stations.
• Trivia Trens activated the Emergency Support Plan between Companies (Plano de Apoio entre Empresas em Situação de Emergência, PAESE), deploying 21 replacement buses between Bresser-Mooca and USP Leste stations to support affected passengers.
• The São Paulo Metro implemented contingency measures to accommodate increased passenger demand. Two additional trains were deployed on Metro Line 3-Red, free transfers were introduced at Tatuapé and Corinthians-Itaquera stations from 0600 hours local time (0900 hours UTC), and intermediate train manoeuvres were carried out at Tatuapé and Penha stations to increase service frequency.
• Line 3-Red also operated at reduced speeds with passenger flow control introduced at station entrances from 0742 hours local time (1042 hours UTC) to manage overcrowding.
