As per reports, Finnair has cancelled approximately 100 flights scheduled for Monday (05 May), due to renewed industrial action by the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU).

• This development follows earlier disruptions, including the grounding of 140 flights on Friday during the initial phase of the union’s coordinated strike. The ongoing situation adds to operational challenges at Helsinki Airport, Finland’s primary international hub.
• The cancellations are expected to impact around 7,500 passengers. The IAU’s industrial action specifically targets key airport operations such as customer service, aircraft maintenance, baggage handling, catering, and ground support services.
• Finnair has indicated that while long-haul operations are generally unaffected by catering service interruptions, some flights on Monday (05 May) may operate without onboard meals or with limited baggage transport. There are also heightened risks of baggage handling delays.
• Finnair began cancelling flights on Saturday (03 May), and has been notifying affected passengers via SMS and email. However, the airline has acknowledged difficulties in rebooking due to limited availability of alternative flights. Additional services including pet transport and pre-ordered in-flight meals may also experience delays or disruptions.
• The Finnish Aviation Union has announced further industrial action planned for 16 May, raising concerns over continued disruptions at Helsinki Airport. Prolonged strike activity may result in sustained impacts on passenger travel, airport operations, and associated logistics services.
