As per reports, dengue cases have been reported in parts of Kerala in the past two weeks as of Wednesday (21 May). The following are the additional details:

• Ernakulam district recorded a total of 440 suspected and confirmed cases since 01 May, with two patients succumbing to the disease; one from Rayamangalam, and another from Thuravoor. The first case of death owing to dengue fever was reported on 13 May, and the second case on 16 May.
• Additionally, the majority of the cases had been reported from rural areas in Kerala, including Kanjoor, Alangad, Rayamangalam, Keecheri, Edathala, Aluva, Vengola, Kuttampuzha, Cheruvattur, Kodanad, Chittattukara, Moolamkuzhi, Mukkannoor, Chowara, Ayampuzha, Vazhakulam, Keezhmad, Pampakuda, Udayamperoor, Malayidamthuruth, Kadavoor, and Moothakunnam.
• Meanwhile, in the city limits, the suspected and confirmed cases were reported from Kadavanthra and Kaloor.
• In response, the president of the Rayamangalam panchayat has stated that control measures were initiated in two wards, which are Valayanchirangara and Pulluvazhi North. These wards had reported a slight increase in the number of dengue cases.
• Fogging and cleaning initiatives involving Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and health workers were also carried out in these areas. Additionally, source-reduction measures are to be implemented to check the vector population.
