As per reports by the Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention, dengue cases have been on the rise in Guangdong province, especially Guangzhou and Shenzhen as of Wednesday (16 October). Here are the latest details:
• As per Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention, from Monday-Sunday (07-13 October), Guangzhou reported 437 new cases of dengue fever, an increase of 185 cases from the previous week (252 cases), a month-on-month increase of 73.41%. There were 3 new severe cases and no deaths reported.
• Among them, there were 360 local cases in Guangzhou, including 100 in Baiyun District, 67 in Panyu District, and 46 in Liwan District; there were 77 imported cases, including 29 in Haizhu District, 16 in Yuexiu District, and 9 in Conghua District.
• As of Wednesday (16 October), Jiahe Street and Tonghe Street in Baiyun District, Nancun Town and Dashi Street in Panyu District, Xinhua Street and Huacheng Street in Huadu District are the worst affected areas as per Guangzhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
• The Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced that there were 120 new cases of dengue fever until Wednesday (16 October).
• The Changsha Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Nanjing Center for Disease Control and Prevention have also issued warnings to be wary of dengue fever.
