As per reports, the National Education Federation (FNE), affiliated with the Moroccan Labor Union (UMT), has issued a nationwide call for a major public demonstration scheduled for Sunday (23 August), starting at 1000 hours local time (0900 hours UTC) in front of the Parliament building in Rabat.
• The mobilization is aimed at opposing measures that the union says could undermine free public higher education, particularly the reported introduction of fees for civil servants wishing to continue or resume university studies.
• The demonstration is expected to draw education-sector personnel, union activists and other supporters, potentially resulting in localized crowding, traffic disruption and restricted access around the Parliament area.
