As per reports, two separate demonstrations were reported in Montreal on Sunday (06 April) protesting the deaths of two men during police action.
• During the first protest, more than 100 people took to the streets in the Saint-Michel neighbourhood at 1530 hours (local time) to call attention to the death of Abisay Cruz, who died the week prior during a police operation.
• Montreal Police (SPVM) claimed that fireworks were thrown into the air, and at 1630 hours (local time), several objects were launched onto Highway 40, forcing officers wearing riot gear to deploy tear gas and disperse the crowd.
• Police stated that six people were arrested, four for armed assault and two for assaulting a police officer.
• On the same day at 1800 hours (local time), another group gathered in Place Émilie-Gamelin to protest a police shooting that resulted in a man’s death in an apartment building on Saint-Hubert Street.
• Demonstrators, who marched up Saint-Laurent Boulevard, demanded more transparency and accountability. The protest ended without arrests and incidents.
