As per reports, the Sindicato Único del Personal Aduanero de la República Argentina, Single Union of Customs Personnel of the Argentine Republic (SUPARA) has declared a 48-hour nationwide strike on Tuesday (15 April), and Wednesday (16 April), citing the absence of a wage agreement and what it describes as the indifferent and intransigent position of customs authorities.
• The strike will be observed in all customs offices across the country and is part of a broader campaign to defend the union’s right to free and fair collective bargaining.
• The union clarified that international passenger tourism at border crossings will remain unaffected during the strike hours, from 0700 to 1900 hours local time. However, the strike action will resume on 29 April and 30 April, including a computer blackout of agents workstations and informational assemblies.
• SUPARA has also announced a permanent state of alert, indicating the possibility of further escalations depending on developments. Customs operations tied to humanitarian or public health reasons will remain exempt from strike actions.
