As per reports, as of Sunday (18 May), Mumbai has reported a rise in COVID-19 cases. Local healthcare facilities have confirmed recent cases, prompting municipal advisories for increased medical vigilance. While infections remain mild, authorities are closely monitoring the situation. The details are as follows:

• Mumbai is currently reporting approximately seven to nine COVID-19 cases each month as of Sunday (18 May), attributed to the virus reaching endemic status in India, as per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Executive Health Officer, Dr. Daksha Shah.
• According to the Union Health Ministry’s dashboard, there are only 93 active COVID-19 cases nationwide as of Saturday (17 May), indicating no immediate cause for concern at the national level.
• Breach Candy Hospital confirmed two COVID-19 positive cases on Saturday (17 May). One patient had recently returned from London and exhibited symptoms such as a sore throat and persistent cough. The other patient, who also tested positive, had no recent travel history.
• The affected individuals were primarily young adults and not part of the high-risk elderly demographic.
• The BMC’s Public Health Department has issued directives to medical professionals across the city to exercise increased caution when assessing patients with fever and respiratory symptoms.
• Citizens have been advised to continue practicing standard precautions, especially in crowded areas.
