As per reports, on Tuesday (13 January), Khuraijam Athouba, the Coordinator of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), alleged that the ongoing Manipur crisis is the result of an “undeclared proxy war” waged by the Central Government against the state’s indigenous people. He further called for a major protest on Saturday (31 January), to intensify pressure on the government.

COCOMI has also called for the resignation of the state’s Security Advisor, Director General of Police (DGP), and Chief Secretary, citing “administrative failures” under the current President’s Rule. Protesters are demanding the immediate resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and the safe return of families to their original homes.
