Cold weather warning issued in Bangladesh – Monday (12 January)

As per reports, Bangladesh Meteorological Department has stated that the cold wave sweeping over 13 districts of the country is likely to continue, as of Monday (12 January).

• The weather across the country is likely to remain dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies until 1800 hours on Monday (12 January).
• The low pressure area located in the southwest Bay of Bengal, off the northeast Sri Lanka coast, has moved west-northwestwards and crossed the Sri Lanka coast.
• It has moved further west-northwestwards and weakened, first becoming a distinct low pressure area and later a low pressure area and has become insignificant.
• Night temperatures may drop slightly in the southern parts of the country and remain almost unchanged elsewhere in the country.
• In addition, a mild cold wave is blowing over Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Jessore and Chuadanga districts and Rangpur division and it may continue.
• During this time, moderate to dense fog may occur in the river basins of the country from late night to morning and light to moderate fog may occur elsewhere.
