As per the China Meteorological Administration advisory issued on Thursday (07 May), a blue alert for severe convective weather has been issued for parts of China.

• Thunderstorms accompanied by winds of level 8 or above or hail are expected across some areas of central and western South China and southern Southwest China.
• Short-duration heavy rainfall with hourly precipitation exceeding 20 millimeters is expected across some areas of central and eastern Jiangnan, central and eastern South China, and southern Southwest China.
• Higher rainfall intensity is expected across parts of central Guangdong, where hourly rainfall may exceed 50 millimeters, with localized maximum rainfall exceeding 60 millimeters.
