The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has continued a blue heavy rain alert on Friday (16 October). Heavy to torrential rainfall is expected in eastern Gansu, northeastern Guizhou, western and northern Hunan, southeastern Hubei, northern Jiangxi and southern Anhui.
Localised rainfall totals of 100–120 millimetres are forecast in northeastern Hunan. Short-duration rainfall may reach 20–50 millimetres per hour, locally exceeding 60 millimetres. Thunderstorms and strong convective weather are also expected in some areas.
