As per reports, Deutsche Bahn (DB) is set to commence an extensive infrastructure renewal programme on the right-bank Rhine railway line between Wiesbaden (Hesse) and Troisdorf (North Rhine-Westphalia), resulting in a total closure of the line from Friday (10 July) through 12 December.

• The closure affects the entire right-bank Rhine corridor between Wiesbaden and Troisdorf. Works include the renewal and modernisation of tracks, switches, overhead lines, signal systems, bridges, tunnels, level crossings, and stations
• Deutsche Bahn has established a replacement bus service across 13 lines to serve affected stations.
• Express bus services will operate between Wiesbaden, Rüdesheim, and Koblenz, as well as between Koblenz, Bad Honnef, Bonn-Ramersdorf, and Troisdorf, to provide faster connections along the corridor. Additional school service journeys have also been planned.
• The passenger ferry ‘Nixe’ has been incorporated into the replacement transport concept.
• The ferry operates between Erpel on the right bank and Remagen on the left bank. Monday to Friday departures from Erpel are at 0700 hours local time (0500 hours UTC) and 0730 hours local time (0530 hours UTC), with departures from Remagen at 0715 hours local time (0515 hours UTC) and 0745 hours local time (0545 hours UTC).
• Afternoon services operate half-hourly from 1330 hours local time (1130 hours UTC) to 1800 hours local time (1600 hours UTC) at both stations.
• Weekend and public holiday services operate half-hourly from 1230 hours local time (1030 hours UTC) from Erpel. VRM transport association tickets and the Deutschlandticket are accepted on the ferry service.
• Several level crossings between Wiesbaden and Lorchhausen will be partially or fully closed for the duration of the works, as the associated signal boxes will be out of operation.
• Affected crossings include Wiesbaden-Biebrich (Gibber Strasse, closed 24 July to 19 November) and Wiesbaden-Schierstein (Freudenbergstrasse), among others. Diversion routes are signposted on site.
• Freight traffic will be redirected to the left-bank Rhine line for the duration of the works.
• This will result in some service reductions on the left bank as well, including the RB 26 service between Bingen and Mainz, which will operate hourly instead of half-hourly from Monday to Friday.
• Partial service reductions are also expected on lines RB 32, RB 23, RB 33, RE 15, RB 30, and RB 48. Long-distance rail services will operate via diversions or face partial cancellations.
