As per reports, a tense situation broke out in Kahawatte in the Sabaragamuwa Province on Thursday (03 July) following the funeral of a 22-year-old who was recently shot dead.

Shortly after the funeral, villagers accused the police of mishandling the investigation and demanded immediate justice. Around 150 police officers had been deployed to the area for security and used tear gas to control the crowd.
