As per reports, the Royal Irrigation Department on Tuesday (27 August), issued a warning for 11 provinces of the Chao Phraya River basin, including Bangkok, due to rising water levels from increased runoff arriving from the North. The affected provinces are Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Lop Buri, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, and Bangkok.
• On Tuesday (27 August), the flow rate of the Chao Phraya River in Nakhon Sawan was recorded at 1,169 cubic meters per second. The department is managing this by diverting water into connecting canals on both sides of the river. In Ayutthaya, the flow was measured at 1,192 cubic meters per second due to additional runoff from the Pa Sak River.
• Projections indicate that the river’s flow in Nakhon Sawan will increase to 1,400 cubic meters per second and reach 1,700 cubic meters per second at the Chao Phraya barrage dam in Chai Nat by Friday (30 August). Therefore, the department had to discharge water from the dam in the range of 900-1,400 cubic metres per second. The discharge rate was 917 cubic metres per second there on Tuesday morning (27 August), up from 700 cubic metres per second on Monday (26 August).
