As per reports, on Monday (28 October), the Director of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Chandigarh, stated that Cyclone Dana has altered the region’s wind patterns, leading to above-normal temperatures in Chandigarh. The usual colder northerly winds have been replaced by warmer winds from the Bay of Bengal, resulting in temperatures four degrees Celsius above normal.

While the cyclone’s effects are expected to weaken this week (28 October – 01 November), the warmer conditions have contributed to an increase in dengue cases due to prolonged mosquito breeding periods. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has remained below 200 since the cyclone made landfall, aided by the winds in dispersing pollutants. However, the AQI rose to 215 on Sunday (27 October), indicating a return to poor air quality.
