Cases of African swine fever reported in Gyeonggi Province on Friday (23 January)

As per reports, a second case of African swine fever (ASF) has been confirmed at a pig farm in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province on Friday (23 January).

Following are the latest updates available:

• ASF Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters deployed quarantine and epidemiological teams to the site, blocked external access, and culled 2,600 pigs on the affected farm.
• A 48-hour temporary movement ban covers six cities and counties adjacent to Anseong City which includes Pyeongtaek, Yongin, and Icheon (Gyeonggi Province), Cheonan (South Chungcheong Province), and Jincheon and Eumseong (North Chungcheong Province).
• Emergency detailed inspections were reported in 38 farms within the 10 Kilometres quarantine zone around the outbreak site and 49 epidemiologically linked pig farms.
