As per reports, the Pico y Placa vehicle circulation restriction is scheduled to remain in effect from Wednesday (01 July) as part of ongoing traffic management measures implemented by the Santiago de Cali and Ministry of Mobility.
• The program aims to reduce vehicle traffic, as part of a comprehensive program to decrease vehicular traffic and high levels of environmental pollution in the city.
• Pico y Placa in Cali starts at 0600 hours local time (1100 hours UTC) ands ends at 1900 hours local time (0000 hours local time on 02 July) on Wednesday (01 July).
• Vehicles with number plates ending in nine and zero on Monday, one and two on Tuesday, three and four on Wednesday, five and six on Thursday and seven and eight on Friday are restricted to circulate on Wednesday (01 July).
• Cars exempt from Pico y Placa traffic restriction are Emergency, Official, Diplomatic and Consular Service, transport people with disabilities or reduced mobility, hybrids and electric vehicles, load capacity greater than or equal to five tons and motorcycles.
• There is also the option of the congestion charge, considered a relief for many drivers in Cali during peak hours. This involves paying a fee that allows legal movement of vehicles on restricted days, justifying the need to travel from one place to another without any restrictions.
• The defined values are USD 122,000 on a daily basis, USD 486,000 on a monthly basis and USD 2,920,000 on a semiannual basis.
