Bus service strike reported in Buenos Aires on Friday (06 February)

As per reports, a bus drivers’ work stoppage has disrupted public transportation services across the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) on Friday (06 February).

The action began at approximately 0000 hours local time (0300 hours UTC) on Friday (06 February).

• Reportedly, more than 20 bus services are partially or fully out of service. The strike affects services operated by Micro Ómnibus General San Martín (MOGSM), Micro Ómnibus Quilmes (MOQSA), San Juan Bautista, and Empresa 216, as well as routes operated under SUR-NOR (Transportes Sur Nor CISA).
• The disruption impacts northern and southern sectors of Greater Buenos Aires as well as parts of the City of Buenos Aires (CABA).
• According to union representatives, the stoppage was prompted by the non-payment of salaries and travel expenses. Union sources warned that the strike could continue until further notice if negotiations do not progress.
• Affected lines include the following:
• Services on routes 159, 219, 300, 372, 584, 603 and 619 of MQSA.
• Services on routes 333, 407, 437 and 707 of MOGSM.
• Services on routes 383, 500, 503, 506, 507, 508, 509, 511, 512 and 513 of San Juan Bautista.
• Other routes including line 15 (SUR-NOR), line 22 (Quilmes–Retiro), line 166 (Palermo–Morón), and lines 236, 504 (Merlo and Ituzaingó branches), and 634.
