As per reports, In the early hours of Wednesday (18 June), a bridge over the Harang River on the Silchar-Kalain road in Assam’s Cachar district collapsed, causing two overloaded trucks to fall into the river.
• The incident occurred around 0130 hours when the bridge, recently reopened after repairs, failed under the excessive weight of the vehicles. No injuries were reported.
• Temporary boat transport has been deployed to assist commuters, and police investigations are underway into administrative and structural lapses.
