The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a severe weather warning on Tuesday (17 March) for heavy rainfall across parts of northern South Australia.

• The warning covers the North East Pastoral and parts of the North West Pastoral districts where heavy rainfall and flash flooding risks are forecast.
• The weather conditions are associated with a tropical low located near the Northern Territory border, feeding tropical moisture along a surface trough extending southeast, while an upper trough moving across southwestern South Australia is enhancing rainfall activity.
• Heavy rainfall capable of producing flash flooding is expected in the warning area, with six-hour rainfall totals between 50 millimetres and 80 millimetres likely.
• Locally intense rainfall capable of causing dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding is possible, particularly in northwestern parts of the North East Pastoral district.
• 24-hour rainfall totals between 80 millimetres and 120 millimetres are likely, with isolated accumulations around 180 millimetres possible.
• Heavy rainfall conditions may begin to ease later in the day, although flooding risks may persist while runoff continues.
• Locations that may be affected include Marla, Moomba, Oodnadatta, Marree, Innamincka, and Dalhousie Springs.
