The Indonesia Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) has issued a weather warning for moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by lightning and strong winds, for parts of the North Maluku region until 0740 hours (local time) on Friday (02 January).

• Locations likely to be impacted include West Halmahera Regency (Loloda, Tabaru); North Halmahera Regency (Tobelo, South Tobelo, North Loloda, North Tobelo, Central Tobelo, East Tobelo, West Tobelo, West Galela, North Galela, South Galela); South Halmahera Regency (Obi, West Obi); Sula Islands Regency (West Mangoli, Central Mangoli, South Mangoli, North Mangoli); and Taliabu Island Regency (East Taliabu, South East Taliabu).
• The heavy rainfall warning may extend to West Halmahera Regency area (Ibu); Central Halmahera Regency (Gebe Island); North Halmahera Regency (Galela); South Halmahera Regency (South Obi, East Obi); Sula Islands Regency (East Mangoli, Sanana, West Sulabesi, East North Mangoli, North Sanana); East Halmahera Regency (Wasile, Central Wasile, North Wasile); Island Regency Taliabu (West Taliabu, North Taliabu, South Taliabu, Tabona); Ternate City (Batang Dua Island).
