BMKG issues early warning for high waves till Friday (10 January)

According to reports, the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) has issued an early warning for high waves that could impact several Indonesian coastal and offshore areas till Friday (10 January).

• The strongest winds are expected in the waters south of the Mentawai Islands to Lampung, the North Natuna Sea, the Karimata Strait, and the Java Sea.
• The wind pattern is expected to bring big waves with heights ranging from 1.25 to 2.5 meters in several areas. These include the Indian Ocean west of Aceh to Lampung, the Indian Ocean south of Java to NTT, the Natuna Sea, the Karimata Strait, the Java Sea, the southern Makassar Strait, the Maluku Sea, and the North Pacific Ocean from Maluku to Papua.
• In some areas, particularly the North Natuna Sea, waves could reach heights between 2.5 and 4.0 meters.
