The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has issued a blue heavy rain alert for parts of China on Thursday (10 September).
• Heavy to torrential rainfall is expected across southern Qinghai, southern Gansu, southern Shaanxi, the northern Sichuan Plateau, central and eastern Sichuan, western Guizhou, eastern and southern Yunnan, western and southern Guangxi, and central and eastern Guangdong.
• Extremely heavy rainfall of 100–150 mm is forecast across parts of the southern Sichuan Basin, northwestern Guizhou and northeastern Yunnan.
• The affected areas are also expected to experience short-duration heavy rainfall, with maximum hourly rainfall of 20–40 mm, locally exceeding 60 mm. Localized thunderstorms and strong convective weather are also forecast during the warning period.
