Banking union strike scheduled across India on Friday (11 September); advisory issued by banks

The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has announced a nationwide strike on Friday (11 September) to demand a five-day banking week, differences over performance-linked incentive (PLI) schemes, and several other pending demands, including pension-related issues.

The following are the latest updates available:

• The State Bank of India has issued a customer advisory urging customers to complete all important bank transactions before the strike on Friday (11 September). They also urged customers to rely on ATM for withdrawing cash and use online banking for urgent banking assistance.
• Punjab National Bank has also urged customers to use digital platforms and ATMs for urgent transactions.
• UCO Bank has announced that banking services will continue as per the usual routine; however, customers are advised to utilise digital banking platforms and mobile banking services for any urgent requirements during the strike period.
