As per reports, at least 86 municipalities in Colombia remain under some type of alert as of Sunday (26 May) due to the threat of landslides, according to the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies (Ideam).
• 23 are classified under red alert, which is declared when flooding has already started or the level of the rivers reaches critical heights that make overflowing imminent.
• The department of Bolívar (north) is the most affected, with 15 municipalities in red alert category, followed by Córdoba, with three; La Guajira, with two; and Cesar, Magdalena and Sucre, all with one.
• The tributaries that flow into the Gulf of Morrosquillo, at the level of the municipalities of San Onofre, Tolú, Coveñas, Palmitos, Tolú Viejo, Chalán, Colosó, Morroa and Sincelejo are also under red alert due to the high probability of sudden floods.
