As per reports, seafarers’ unions and workers’ centres are planning an anti-war strike and rally in the Piraeus and Thriasio areas on Friday (06 February) as part of an international dockworkers’ action day.
A rally is scheduled at 0930 hours local time (0730 hours UTC) on Friday (06 February) outside the ship “Phistos Pallas” (Gate E2) in the Port of Piraeus.
• The action forms part of an International Day of Action of Dockworkers involving unions in Italy, Greece, the Basque Country, Turkey, France, and Morocco, with coordinated activity across multiple ports.
• The main rally is planned outside the ship “Phistos Pallas” at Gate E2 in the Port of Piraeus.
• Organisers oppose the use of ports and maritime infrastructure for military purposes, reject increased military spending, and are calling for ports and strategic infrastructure to remain under public control.
• The mobilisation is also linked to broader opposition to war involvement and defence-related logistics through Greek ports, including Piraeus and Eleusis.
