As per reports, a large demonstration organised by the Unifor union took place on Saturday (26 April) at Windsor’s Riverfront Festival Plaza, with hundreds of workers protesting against the 25 percent tariffs imposed by the US President Trump administration on Canadian-made vehicles and auto parts.

• Union leaders, including Unifor National President Lana Payne and local officials, emphasized that the tariffs have already triggered layoffs, plant shutdowns, and significant uncertainty in Canada’s automotive sector, particularly affecting Stellantis and General Motors workers.
• The protest occurred two days before the federal election, with leaders of major political parties, including Jagmeet Singh, Pierre Poilievre, and Mark Carney, addressing the impact of tariffs and pledging support to defend Canadian workers’ interests.
