As per reports, the Greek Committee for International Detente and Peace (EEDYE) and Federation of Greek Women (OGE) have called for mass participation in a “Anti-Imperialist Action” on 17 May, culminating in the 43rd Marathon Peace March.
• The mobilization serves as a protest against imperialist wars, Greece’s involvement in international military missions, and the presence of foreign military bases.
• On 17 May, the 43rd Marathon Peace March is scheduled to start at 1900 hours local time (1600 hours UTC) from Eleftherias Park to walk together to Syntagma Square.
• A large rally and gathering are scheduled to take place at Syntagma Square upon the march’s arrival, including a march from the Ministry of National Defense.
• The demonstration is expected to focus on themes including the Israel–Gaza conflict, the war in Ukraine, and opposition to NATO and EU military planning.
