As per reports, a meeting of All Party Trade Unions was held at the CITU Office, Jagadamba Junction in Visakhapatnam. Union leaders called on workers and the general public to participate in the nationwide general strike scheduled for Wednesday (09 July). The unions criticised the Union government’s labour reforms, alleging that the implementation of four labour codes, replacing 29 earlier laws, would dilute workers’ rights, including the right to strike and form unions.
As part of the mobilisation efforts for the upcoming general strike, gate meetings will be held across various industrial units from Tuesday (01 July) to Friday (04 July). A city-wide bike rally is scheduled for Saturday (05 July), followed by another rally through industrial zones on Monday (07 July). The main protest event will take place on Wednesday (09 July), featuring a rally from Dondaparthy to the Gandhi Statue near GVMC, culminating in a large public meeting.
