As per reports, as of 1700 hours local time (2300 hours UTC) on Monday (01 December), more than 200 flights were cancelled and hundreds more delayed across Chicago’s airports due to the combined impact of a new winter weather system and lingering effects of the weekend’s record-breaking snowstorm.

• Reportedly, the O’Hare Airport recorded 249 cancellations and 936 delays, with an average delay of 82 minutes on Monday (01 December).
• The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implemented a ground delay program, scheduled to remain in effect until 2259 hours local time (0459 hours UTC on 02 December) on Monday (01 December) due to snow and ice.
• In contrast, Midway Airport reported only one cancellation but experienced a ground stop between 1607 hours and 1700 hours local time (2207 hours–2300 hours UTC) on Monday (01 December), halting all inbound and outbound flights.
• Delays and cancellations are expected to continue into Monday (01 December) evening as the Chicago area prepared for an additional two to four inches of accumulating snowfall.
