As per reports, Spanish airline Air Europa has extended the suspension of its flights between Spain and Caracas until 11 January 2026, citing ongoing uncertainty linked to tensions between the United States and Venezuela and the evolving security and operational situation in the southern Caribbean.
• Air Europa has confirmed that affected passengers are being offered free date or route changes, travel vouchers, or full refunds.
• The airline has acknowledged significant financial losses due to the prolonged suspension, with all tickets for the route reportedly sold prior to cancellation.
• Other European carriers, including Iberia and Plus Ultra (Spain) and TAP (Portugal), continue to keep flights to and from Venezuela suspended. These airlines currently do not have operating authorisation from Venezuela’s National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC).
• While public statements have suggested a full closure of Venezuelan airspace, aviation authorities have clarified that airspace control remains the responsibility of Venezuelan regulators and is not officially closed.
