As per reports, Air Canada travellers continue to face disruptions as flights remain suspended through Tuesday (19 August) afternoon following defiance by flight attendants of a federal back-to-work order issued by Prime Minister Mark Carney. Despite the legal order, flight attendants remain grounded, prompting Air Canada to announce a suspension of all flights until further notice.

• In parallel, around 200 protesters, led by the multi-union Workers’ Alliance, gathered at Phillips Square in downtown Montreal before marching to Air Canada’s headquarters at Square Victoria on Monday (18 August).
• Union leaders declared the strike ‘necessary,’ citing poor working conditions and low wages, with flight attendants reportedly earning a starting wage of CAD 1,952 gross per month and enduring dozens of hours of unpaid work.
