As per reports, the Montreal Transit Corporation (STM) and its maintenance workers’ union reached an agreement in principle on Tuesday (24 March) under the recommendation of a mediator-conciliator appointed by the Minister of Labour.
• The agreement involves approximately 2,400 maintenance employees, representing one of the last trades to finalize a contract with the STM following settlements with drivers and professionals.
• Details of the agreement remain undisclosed pending a ratification vote by union members and approval by the STM’s board of directors in the coming weeks.
• The labour dispute, ongoing since early 2025, previously resulted in four strikes that disrupted metro and bus services and contributed to a seven percent decline in annual ridership.
