As per reports, the National Center for Meteorology has issued weather warnings for several regions of Saudi Arabia due to unstable atmospheric conditions. In the Al-Jawf region, the governorates of Al-Qurayyat and Tabarjal are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by active winds, reduced horizontal visibility, and thunderstorms on Monday (15 December).
• These conditions are forecast to affect open areas and highways, increasing the likelihood of hazardous travel conditions.
• In parallel, authorities in Riyadh has reportedly announced the suspension of in-person classes for Monday (15 December), with all public and private schools shifting to remote learning.
• This decision applies across Riyadh and its affiliated governorates, including Al Majmaah, Al Ghat, Al Zulfi, Al Dawadmi, Al Quwayiyah, Afif, and Shaqra.
• The suspension follows broader national alerts indicating rainfall of varying intensity across most parts of the Kingdom until Thursday (18 December).
• Forecasts also include the potential for strong downdraft winds exceeding 60 kilometres per hour, hailstorms, elevated sea conditions in coastal areas, and flash floods in specific locations.
