As per reports, the Bengaluru traffic police have announced road closures, diversions, and parking restcitions in view of the New Year celebration on Sunday (31 December).
• Traffic movement will be prohibited on YD Mutt Road from Sukh Sagar Junction to Mico Layout Junction.
• All crossroads connecting to YD Mutt Road, including Jyoti Nivas College Road, 4th B Cross Road, 1st Main Road, 17th H Main Road (from Mangala Kalyana Mantapa side), 17th A Main Road (Nature Basket), and 17th B Main Road (Next to Amudam Cafe), will be closed to traffic.
• Traffic movement will also be restricted around MG Road, Brigade Road, Museum Road, Rest House Road, and Residency Cross Road.
• MG Road and Brigade Road metro stations will be temporarily closed during the night to minimize congestion and facilitate the smooth flow of traffic in surrounding areas.
• No vehicular movement will be allowed except police and essential services vehicles between 2000 hours on Sunday (31 December) and 0100 hours on Monday (01 January).
• Parking Restrictions:
– No parking on YD Mutt Road from Sukh Sagar Junction to Mico Layout Junction.
– No parking on both sides of the road from UCO Bank Junction to NGV Back Gate Junction.
– No parking from Star Bazaar Cross (Smashana Cross) Road to Mico Layout Junction.
– No parking on Indiranagar 100 feet road from Old Madras Road Junction to Dommaluru Flyover Junction on both sides of the road.
– No parking on Indiranagar 12th Main Road from 80 feet road to Indiranagar Double Road Junction on both sides of the road.
– No parking on ITPL Main Road from B. Narayanapura Shell Petrol Bunk to Garudacharpalya Decathlon on both sides of the road.
• Alternative Routes:
– Vehicles traveling from Adugodi Junction towards NGV and Sony World Junction should take a left turn at Water Tank Junction.
– Vehicles traveling from Madiwala towards NGV via UCO Bank Junction should avoid UCO Bank Junction and proceed via Madiwala Sante Road and take a right turn at Ayyappa Junction.
• Key flyovers will remain closed from 2300 hours on Sunday (31 December) to 0600 hours on Monday (01 January): Hennur Flyover, ITC Flyover, Banaswadi Main Road Flyover, Lingarajpura Flyover, Hennur Main Road Flyover, Kalpalli Railway Gate Flyover, Dommalur Flyover, Nagawara Flyover, Medahalli Flyover, OM Road Flyover, Devarbusanahalli Flyover, Mahadevpur Flyover, and Doddanakkundi Flyover.
• Meanwhile, the Phoenix Mall of Asia has been ordered by the police to remain closed for 15 days from Sunday (31 December) to 15 January.
• For those visiting Phoenix Mall in Whitefield, cabs will only be allowed to stop at dedicated pick-up and drop-off points. Drop points include near the BESCOM office on ITPL Main Road, and the pick-up point is near Singayyanapalya Metro Station. To ensure a smooth flow of traffic on Sunday (31 December), popular areas like MG Road, Brigade Road, and Residency Road in the city will be designated as pedestrian-only zones.

• The Bangalore Traffic Police has advised the public to use public transportation or cabs instead of private vehicles on New Year’s Eve to avoid traffic congestion. Strict enforcement against drink and drive and reckless driving will be in place under relevant IPC sections to ensure compliance with the law.
